This Christmas album has such a big sound that it makes other Christmas albums pale in comparison. Influenced by Johnny Mercer, Les Brown, Louis Prima, Bobby Darin and Duane Eddy, Brian Setzer is a retro genius. Standout numbers include a swinging "Nutcracker Suite", "Cactus Christmas" (think Cow-Cow Boogie), and an unexpectedly touching "O Holy Night". This album epitomizes Christmas cool. Highly, highly recommended for a snazzy, jazzy retro Christmas! Happy Christmas everybody!!!!

Before he jumped, jived, and wailed to the top of the pop charts, and long before radio, video, or press had noticed what was going on, a Brian Setzer Orchestra performance was captured live for the first time at the Montreal Jazz Festival on June 30, 1995. This show represented a turning point in the band's evolution from '40s style big band swing to the powerful balls-to-the-wall rock 'n' roll outfit that sold millions, earned 3 Grammys, and is still going strong. Experience that One Rockin' Night the Orchestra charted its new musical course and never looked back.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra (sometimes going by the acronym BSO) is a swing and jump blues band formed in 1990 by Stray Cats frontman Brian Setzer. Setzer, who had grown up playing the baritone horn in school, often envisioned a rock guitar fronting a big band. In 1990, Setzer organized the orchestra, styled as a big band which included full sections of trumpet, trombone and saxophone players, and a rhythm section with Setzer on guitar and vocals, plus piano, string bass and drums. The orchestra began playing clubs in and around Los Angeles, and was eventually signed to Hollywood Records. This is their first LP recorded and released back in 1994.
