· "The McCartney's Christmas Album" - The Beatles

Back in 1965, Paul McCartney ended a very busy Beatles year by recording an album of his own, and releasing it as a Christmas present to John, George and Ringo. The album was only pressed in four copies, he kept one for himself. The album is made up of experiments in sound which Paul had conducted at home. This is side one, side two seems to be lost forever...

  1. Thank you for posting this. While the McCartney Christmas program is amusing, the real treat here is the rejected '65 session.

I'm curious why you think side two is "lost forever." Presumably, Paul still owns the original tape the acetates were pressed from - would it not be worth speculating that the entire message might end up in Macca's private computing cloud one day?

  2. I had of course heard of this, but assumed it would never see the light.

    Thanks.

  3. When I say "side two is lost forever" I'm referring to the following: As it seems, after the acetates were pressed, the original tape was used by McCartney for recording home demos since it was one of the several reels of recording tape he used to exchange with Lennon while writing new stuff. It's a fact that Lennon used the tape while composing too, and he's the responsible for making "dissapear" the side 2 of the acetates since he recorded over the previous recording some of his stuff using that same tape.

  4. This is great! I'm not sure if you can get my comments on other posts, but I see you've replied here - could you reup the 4 Los Shakers albums w/ bonus tracks and rarities? They seem to be exclusive to you!
