Recorded in September 1971 at Advision Studios in London, Fragile is the fourth album by the British progressive rock band Yes, released on Atlantic Records, catalogue 7211. It was the band's first album with keyboardist Rick Wakeman after the departure of Tony Kaye, and the first to feature cover art by Roger Dean, his work emblematic of both the band and progressive rock as a whole. The album is an analog multi-track production. Standard multi-track methods were employed, such as overdubbing, including a flipping of the master tape to record the backwards piano, cued by Howe's guitar, for the beginning of "Roundabout." Fragile was issued in the UK in November 1971, but was held back in North America for two months because of the chart momentum of The Yes Album. It peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 during a stay of 46 weeks, and as Atlantic 2401 019 reached #7 in the UK album chart. Its best known track, "Roundabout," was released in the United States in an edited version as a single.

Charles Edward "Chuck" Berry (born October 18, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. Chuck Berry is an influential figure and one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's website, "While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll, Chuck Berry comes the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together." Cub Koda wrote, "Of all the early breakthrough rock & roll artists, none is more important to the development of the music than Chuck Berry. He is its greatest songwriter, the main shaper of its instrumental voice, one of its greatest guitarists, and one of its greatest performers." John Lennon was more succinct: "If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'." Berry was among the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on its opening in 1986. He received Kennedy Center Honors in 2000 in a "class" with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Plácido Domingo, Angela Lansbury, and Clint Eastwood. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Chuck Berry #5 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. He was also ranked 6th on Rolling Stone's Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists of All Time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included three of Chuck Berry's songs ("Johnny B. Goode", "Maybellene", "Rock and Roll Music"), of the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll. The Great Twenty-Eight is a greatest hits album by classic rock and roller Chuck Berry, released in 1982. In 2003, the album was ranked number 21 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Vinicius de Moraes is probably the greatest Brazilian poet and musician of all times. His songs are delicious, deep and calming. He was the link between the old guard of poets and the new generation songwriters and singers. While he was a friend of great poets like Manuel Bandeira, he was also a friend/partner of new singers (at that time) like Toquinho, Chico, and Tom Jobim. This CD contain some of the best (and most well know) Brazilian songs. If you like or are interested in Brazilian music, you certainly should add this to your collection.

Selling England by the Pound is the fifth studio album by Genesis and was recorded and released in 1973. It followed Foxtrot and was the band's commercial peak with Peter Gabriel, hitting # 3 in the UK where it remained on the charts for 21 weeks. The album went gold in the US in 1990. The album cover is a painting by Betty Swanwick called The Dream. The original painting did not feature a lawn mower; the band had Swanwick add it later as an allusion to the song "I Know What I Like." Retaining the pastoral yearning for ancient or medieval England as its primary thematic material, the album focuses on traces of this past in the present. Songs about England's mythological past ("Dancing With the Moonlit Knight") co-exist with sketches of contemporary lawnmowers ("I Know What I Like"), and the centrepiece of the second side, the epic "Cinema Show", has two lovers serve as reincarnations of ancient Greek figures in a way which is almost directly out of the "Fire Sermon" scene in T. S. Eliot's long poem The Waste Land. The musical performances are much more polished and tight than on the preceding LPs, and musical diversions are more often unified into the general song structure. A digitally remastered version was released on CD in 1994 on Virgin in Europe and on Atlantic Records in the US and Canada, and it's now featured here.

Carlos Gardel (Charles Romuald Gardes, 11 December 1890 Toulouse, France - 24 June 1935 Medellín, Colombia) is perhaps the most prominent figure in the history of tango. Although his birthplace is disputed between Uruguay and France, he lived and grown up in Argentina since the age of two and acquired Argentine citizenship in 1923. When asked about his nationality, Gardel would answer, “I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the age of two years and a half...” It is thought that Gardel used to give evasive answers in order to hide the circumstances of his birth to a single mother, Berthe Gardes, since apparently he was son of an illegitimate father who belonged to a healthy French family from Toulouse. Gardel grew up in the Abasto neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, located near the Central Market of Fruit and Vegetables, an enormous art-deco styled building which today is a shopping mall. Gardel created the tango-canción in 1917 with his rendition of Pascual Contursi and Samuel Castriotta’s "Mi Noche Triste". The recording sold 10,000 copies (In 1917!!!)and was a hit all throughout Latin America. Gardel went on tour through Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, and also made several appearances in Paris, Nice, Barcelona, Madrid and New York. He sold 70,000 records in the first three months of his 1928 visit to Paris. As his popularity grew, he made a number of films for Paramount, first in France and then in the U.S. While sentimental films such as El día que me quieras or Cuesta abajo lack lasting dramatic value, they were outstanding showcases of his tremendous singing talents and moviestar looks. He died in an airplane crash at the height of his career, becoming an archetypal tragic hero mourned throughout Latin America. The unerring musicality of Gardel’s baritone voice and the dramatic phrasing of his lyrics made miniature masterpieces of his hundreds of three-minute tango recordings. For many, Gardel embodies the soul of the tango style that originated in the barrios of Buenos Aires at the end of the 19th century. He is commonly referred to as “Carlitos” (Charly), “The King of Tango”, “El Mago” (The Magician) and, ironically “El Mudo” (The Mute).

Here's Little Richard is the debut album from Little Richard, released on March 1957. He had scored six Top 40 hits the previous year, some of which were included on this recording. It was his highest charting album, at 13 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. In 2003, the album was ranked number 50 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album contained two of Richard's biggest hits, "Long Tall Sally", which reached #6 in the U.S. Pop charts, and "Jenny, Jenny", which reached #10 in the U.S. Pop charts.
